Introduction

T
he Galapagos snake is a fairly common resident to the islands that it resides on. There are two named subspecies of the snake, the Fernandina and the Isabela.  The Galapagos snake can be found on Baltra, Rábida, Santa Cruz, Santa Fé and Santiago.  They feed by constricting their prey, but they are slightly venomous.

Identification

The Galapagos snake is almost impossible to identify unless closely examined.  The individual sub species are distinguished by their shape, pattern and number of scales on certain parts of their body.  They are completely brown with yellow stripes or dark grey and yellow spots on their upperside in a zigzag pattern.
