These adventure voyages to Raja Ampat will take you through some of the world’s most beautiful rainforest-clad coral reef islands in the world, onboard a luxurious traditional Indonesian sailing ship known as a pinisi. Here you can snorkel at the epicentre of the world’s most diverse coral reefs, surrounded by hundreds of colourful fish. You may also be lucky enough to encounter bizarre (and harmless) Wobbegong sharks, black-tip reef sharks, reef manga rays, spadefish, hawksbill turtles and vast schools of reef fish. You may also snorkel in one of only 20 mysterious non-stinging jellyfish lakes found worldwide, where you can swim among these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat.
Above water, you will make passage through a stunning myriad of forest-covered limestone islands and islets. The likes of Waigeo are more than 80km end to end, covered in a vast swathe of rainforest. Others are mere splinters a few metres across, with coastal caves and steep sides making them impossible to land on. Set in waters of so many shades of blue, sometimes with a white sand beach, in other places home to a bay full of mangroves; every vista is a work of art.
Where it is possible to walk on land, onboard guides may be able to take you in search of Birds of Paradise, best seen when they are performing mating displays in the forest canopy. You will also be able to delve into local cultures and traditions, engaging with the welcoming communities that call Raja Ampat home. Many areas promote sustainability of energy and fishing, as well as efforts to protect wildlife.
Your guides will also describe the history of the area, in one place so doing as you snorkel amongst historic sea cave cemeteries adorned with ancient paintings some 5,000 years old.
These voyages provide an unparalleled blend of natural wonder and cultural immersion, in one of the most pristine corners of our planet. Paddleboards and kayaks are available onboard to make exploration of this area even more personal.

Batanta offers a change of scenery as well as providing us with the opportunity to explore lush tropical jungles, housing an abundance of birds, butterflies and wonderful insects.
