Deep South Maldives Dive Liveaboards

These special voyages explore the tropical ocean wilderness of the Deep Southern atolls of the Maldives. Here you will dive around uninhabited islands, explore remote sites that few others visit; and hope to enjoy encounters with a stunning variety of marine life throughout the lagoons, channels and outer reefs.

Diving with Manta Rays on Maldives Dive Liveaboard Deep Southern Atolls

Heading south from Laamu and Huvadhoo atoll, we are quite likely to be the only divers enjoying remote and unnamed dive sites. On average, coral reefs in the deep south of the Maldives are amongst the healthiest. We also find exciting fish-filled channel dives where we can hope for excellent chances for pelagic encounters including reef sharks and manta rays.

As we cross the Equator between Fuvahmulah and Addu Atolls, our chances of encountering larger species of predatory shark increases. Regular visitors and residents here include tiger sharks, hammerheads, leopard sharks and even thresher sharks. Addu is the most southerly atoll in the Maldives and is known as one of the few places where manta rays can usually be found year-round. Other highlights of the atoll include the 'shark hotel', named for the steady population of grey reef sharks that can normally be found here. We also find the wreck of the ship, British Loyalty - the largest wreck in the Maldives; home now to sharks, turtles, rays and some dense schools of reef fish.
