Join a fjord cruise to experience the mighty glaciers, wildlife and a visit to the Russian capital of Svalbard: Barentsburg. Barentsburg is with its 450 inhabitants Svalbard's second largest settlement. The mining community is located on the beautiful Grønfjord and is operated and owned by the state-owned Russian mining company Trust Arcticugol. There are own coal-fired power stations, hospitals, hotels, schools, kindergartens and cultural and sports buildings. Although there is still mining in the city, tourism is building up to become the most important industry.
You will set out crossing Isfjorden towards Ymer bay and the Esmark glacier. With vast opportunities to experience the arctic wildlife, keep your eyes open and look for whales, seals and a plethora of birds.
