Gallant Lady

Gallant Lady is a 116 foot (35.4 m) scuba diving, snorkelling & whale watching liveaboard yacht accommodating up to 12 guests in 6 ensuite cabins. 5 of the cabins are superior suites (2 on the main deck and 2 on the lower deck). 4 cabins can be converted between California king and twin beds. The 6th cabin is a large premium suite with a convertible California king / twin bed. All cabins have individually-controllable air conditioning.

The yacht was built in 1984 and rebuilt in 2018 with stabilisation for smooth cruising and modern comfort facilities. The sun deck features a hot tub and crow’s nest as well as an al fresco dining area; whilst on the main deck there is a lounge and fully-stocked bar. Wi-Fi is also available onboard. For your diving and snorkeling needs, there is a dive platform at the stern of the boat with tanks and storage space. Nitrox is also available.

Our primary destinations for Gallant Lady are the Revilla Gigedo Islands, best known for the largest island in the group: Socorro. She is also our platform for our Ocean Giants of Baja marine safaris in search of blue whales, fin whales, dolphins; combining with glamping at San Ignacio Lagoon for Close Encounters with Gray Whales. From April to June Galant Lady is one of our yacht-based platforms for Mobula Rays & Orcas.

These journeys take you to some of Baja California's best marine life areas, with some days spent exploring the coast from a stay-on-board yacht; and others based at a luxury coastal tented camp.

From January to April we can hope to see some real Ocean Giants, including Blue WhalesSperm Whales, Fin Whales and HumpbacksWhale Sharks will also be present, filter feeding on the surface of the water, allowing us to snorkel with them. There are more than 900 islands in the Sea of Cortez, providing safe offshore breeding, feeding and nursing grounds for seabirds – here to fish on even vast populations of fish which visit these waters.

The Sea of Cortez, or Gulf of California as it is also known, is a sea with incredibly rich marine life, scenic desert shores and coastal wildlife. These yacht-based experiences set their sights in particular on seasonal opportunities to snorkel with giant aggregations of Mobula Rays & chances to swim with Orcas. A spotter plane is used to help enhance our chances.

We find marine life aggregations all over the world on our Ocean Giant expeditions. None can match the sheer mass of life within seasonal ‘swarms’ of Mobula Rays which amass in the Sea of Cortez. The most iconic species of Mobula Ray is the Munk’s Pygmy Devil Ray, which can sometimes gather in tight schools of tens of thousands of individuals. They often swim close to the surface, as well as leap acrobatically out high above the water, giving Mobula Rays the nickname “flying rays”.
