Kon-Tiki Museum - Thor Heyerdahl’s World Famous Expeditions

Kon-Tiki Museum displays a great range of boats and historic artefacts from Thor Heyerdahl's legendary expeditions.  Thor Heyerdahl (1914-2002) was a world famous scientist and adventurer with a background in zoology and geography. 

The museum houses the original Kon-Tiki raft (1947) with a 30 foot whale shark underneath as well as other permanent exhibitions about: Ra, Tigris, Fatu-Hiva, Kon-Tiki, and Easter Island.
 
Other collections include various statues and an interesting collection of archaeological finds from Easter Island, East Polynesia, Galapagos and Peru.
