Kirindy is a great place to visit anytime outside of the mid to late wet season (February and March), when trying to get there from Morondava can be very difficult.
Kirindy is a place of extreme seasonal changes. There is a short, hot rainy season between December and February, when temperatures may exceed 40°C.
The nine-month dry season which follows is practically rain free with cooler temperatures. Whilst Lemurs, Fossas and Giant Jumping Rats are all active during this times, you will see how this habitat survives its long dry season with many trees losing their leaves and a significant proportion of the wildlife going into a state of hibernation.
October to December is the best time to try to see Fossas; and the early part of the wet season, December and January, are good months generally. Although you can expect rain at this time, small mammals and many reptiles come out of hibernation; and deciduous trees turning green.
